Since there has been no Instructor College held for the past few years, all members from the previous dues cycle are still considered in "Good Standing".
VSFSI is researching new training opportunities for instructors.
The Virginia Department of Fire Programs is now conducting weekend Instructor Symposiums at various locations throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. The most recent offering was at the Wytheville Community College. The next offering is scheduled for Fall 2011 in Northern VA.
The Virginia Fire Services Board (VFSB) Fire Education and Training Committee, in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP), developed and adopted the 5 Year Training Plan for 2010/2011.
Members of the VFSB met with VDFP division chiefs and VDFP staff at the April meeting to update the 5 year plan for the next 12 month cycle (2011/2012). The plan is now being updated every 12 months to incorporate new goals and objectives and to review those goals and objectives that were accomplished during the previous 12 month cycle.

Final piloting of the new Fire Instructor 3 program will be after July 1. The program will be sent to VFSB at the August meeting.
